The JAMETTY Story - written and rewritten
It all began when a mysterious force of attraction brought seven very special people together. We were strangers, starting out on our leadership journey as Band Majors and Drum Majors. The JAMETTY family as you know it today started out with only five founding siblings.
On the bright and sunny afternoon of October 25th in the year 2005, Emily and Yuh Yiing met each other at the staircase outside the Music Studio of the CCAB, where it all began. By virtue of their sheer knack for punctuality, which still exists today, they were almost half an hour too early for the 31st NCO Camp Game Facilitators’ Briefing Session. Because of a toilet trip that revealed both their passions for the Bass Clarinet, the foundation for their friendship was established.
At the briefing, Timothy Yeo and Michael got to know each other, before all the fun started. When we proceeded to try out the games we would be facilitating, Timothy Chua, Timothy Yeo, Michael, Emily and Yuh Yiing ended up in the same group. But the real fun started only when they formed into a facilitator group and went mad by uttering their first words, “Please don’t send me home Mama!â€
On the 20th of November, Michael, Emily, Timothy Yeo, Timothy Chua and Yuh Yiing met up for the NIE Symphonic Band Concert. At the concert, many hilarious things transpired, and Jeremy joined us too. During dinner, the METTY concept, which was born days before that by Emily and Yuh Yiing, was transformed into a multi-billion dollar family hotel business, called the METTY Hotel. We also decided that we would become a band of brothers and sisters, deciding our positions at the METTY place facing the river.
On the 12th of December, JAMETTY was born, with the addition of Papa Jeremy and Mama Amanda into the family. Ever since that day, JAMETTY has lived on to become a happy, laughing, loving, and united family.
Although we are all busy children growing up, and papa and mama spend a lot of time working to support us, some of us older ones have tried our best to lighten their load. Laoda Timothy has set up an OMG shop in Far East Plaza, which makes a steady profit that goes towards the family budget, because papa does not man the shop. We salute our Laoda for that. Erjie Yuh Yiing has, on various occasions, babysat the younger ones when Papa and Mama were not free.
